Year 9 curriculum
Ercall Wood's curriculum is tapered depending on the ability banding of the teaching group within the core subjects. This is to enable those students that are not fully secure with a grade 4 "pass" in English and/or Mathematics additional time within those curriculum areas. Achieving a grade 4 "pass" or grade 5 "strong pass" in English and Mathematics is crucial in enabling students to maximise opportunities for any curriculum pathway for a student's post-16 studies. A wide range of evidence highlights the positive impact of achieving these qualifications on future health, wealth and happiness (Education Endowment Fund).
