Meet the Governors

Andrew Petch
I am a local authority co-opted governor. My working life has been spent in education as a teacher and lecturer. Including contributing to A level courses as well as working with students with special educational needs. In my retirement I do voluntary work for the National Trust as well as writing occasional reviews of concerts for the Shropshire Star.

The educational system faces many challenges; as a governor I would hope to help the school in its continual strive for excellence based on my experience as a teacher and counsellor. I also work in a voluntary capacity with talented year 6 pupils in a local primary school providing extension work in their literacy programme.

Judith Mills
Prior to my retirement I was a member of the Senior Management Team of a large FE college. As a head my responsibilities included Initial Teacher Training, e learning and CPD for all of the 1480 staff across 9 campuses.  This background has provided me with both skill and knowledge to help with the governance role at school.  I am fully committed to improving the learning journey for all young people of all ability levels and needs.  My own son had a statement for dyslexia, which with the support he received from Ercall Wood he overcame to proceed to university and a career as a vet.  The experience we all went through during his education have added to the insight I bring to governors.  I am a fully qualified teacher and a hold a Masters degree in Leadership and Management.  I have been a governor for nearly 20 years at Ercall Wood and have seen many exciting changes during this period.

Mary Hasenauer
Mary moved from the USA 15 years ago.  In America she taught PE in an inner city Middle School for 13 years.  The school was very diverse, primarily African American and Hispanic.  Whilst at the school Mary got involved with the training and mentoring of new teachers which she has continued to do at Ercall Wood.

Mary is currently a Head of Year, and is the Head of PSHEE at Ercall Wood, both roles she has held for 9 years.  She has the PSHEE qualification and has redesigned the programme, updating several school policies.  Mary was previously the Head of PE for 3 years.  She is still committed to promoting sport within the school and increasing participation.

Outside of school Mary enjoys spending time with her family, travelling and she enjoys challenging herself by completing several charity walks.

Richard Haseley
I was employed in electrical engineering for thirty plus years before retiring in 2010. I was involved in managing site engineers, product training and sales. I am a retired magistrate, formally in the Telford adult and family courts and a volunteer with the Alzheimer’s Society. I am a local authority governor.

Stephanie Bridgwater
I am married to Anthony and our daughter, Olivia, is currently in Year 8 at Ercall Wood.

My career history is somewhat varied in that I spent 15 years working for a local plastic compounder where I progressed from sales to production control and then on to being a buyer for the company. During that time, I gained a Diploma in Purchasing & Supply Chain Management. After being made redundant, I found a position as a buyer with Caterpillar in Shrewsbury.  When I first had Olivia, I wanted to work part-time and a complete career change led me to working for HM Land Registry for the last ten years.

I care passionately about my daughter’s education and I firmly believe that parents play just as an important part as the school in providing this. In conjunction with my business skills, becoming a Parent Governor has provided me with an opportunity to hopefully make a valuable contribution to the governing body, to work together to achieve one common goal, that every child that attends Ercall Wood is not only happy and safe in their learning environment but has access to outstanding education provision.

Stuart Whitehouse
I currently work as a national sales manager within the automotive sector. I have been a governor for the last 18 years, firstly at the primary school where my 4 daughters attended where I served as Chair for 15 years and then for the last 8 years at Ercall Wood. For the last 4 years I have been vice chair, continuing to support both staff and students in their time at Ercall Wood. Over the years my 4 children have gone through the school and have prospered from the education afforded to them and have continued to go from strength to strength, with the 4 now having gone to University and  with the eldest reaching Cambridge. I continue to develop my understanding of the education system both form being married to a primary school teacher with 30 years’ experience and from the work carried out during my role as governor on a continual basis.

Chris Whitehead
Hello my name is Chris Whitehead and I have been a Parent Governor since July 2016.

I have lived in Wellington for 26 years and I am married with four children. I used to work at GKN Sankey before becoming a self-employed builder. I have a lot of different interests and hobbies; I am a volunteer at Telford Steam Railway and I have recently taken up rugby coaching again for the girls’ teams at Telford Hornets. I am also on the Shropshire Show cattle committee and enjoy social functions in town. I have one child at Ercall Wood at the moment, and one that left a while ago. I was so impressed with Ercall Wood that I wanted to stand as a Governor to give something back to the school.
